“For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.” John 6:38
Can you feel the excitement building as we realize we have arrived at the last day of 2025? Have you been asked if you’re ready for 2026?
That question gets asked a lot as we approach the New Year. Christ never needed to be asked if He was ready when He left the splendors of heaven to be born as a babe. He didn’t second guess His coming or wonder if He was doing the right thing. Why? I believe the song “Ivory Palaces” captures the essence of what He did and why so perfectly well.

“Only His great eternal love made my Savior go.”
This is why He left those ivory palaces and came into this world of woe. His example of such deep love should be the driving force behind us even on this day as we prepare for whatever celebrations we are having. We should look with care at a world that needs this message of hope and eternal love. We should remind them of what Ephesians 5:2 says, “and walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.”
Christ sacrificed ALL (think of the splendors of heaven He left for the agony He suffered in this fallen world) and for whom? For you and for me! He suffered so that we might be eternally free and enjoy the splendors of heaven one day as well.
Will you join me in reflecting today on all that He left and all that He endured in His great love for us all? And let’s rejoice that He will return for us and take us to His home in Heaven!
In garments glorious He will come,
To open wide the door;
And I shall enter my heav’nly home,
To dwell forevermore.
