The Bible Reading Habit (in your kids)

As important it is for us, as adults to read God’s Word and know it; it is equally as important for our children.  I have written a book designed for children of all ages to help with this.  Have them read it on their own or read it with them.  This simple devotional book takes them through the Bible to give them a head start on personal devotions.

Here is an excerpt from my first children’s devotional book.  I hope you enjoy it!

CREATION
(Genesis 1:1 – 2:3)

God spoke His world into being
Just six days is all it took.
This beautiful world with every detail
He even described in His Book.
“By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.” Psalm 33:6

What a beautiful world we live in. God created this perfect world for us by speaking it into creation and in just six days. He looked around Him and He realized His work was complete and so on the seventh day, He rested.

What does this all mean to us? As we look around our world, we can see the beauty and know that the Great Designer was there at the beginning speaking all these beautiful things into existence. He loved His world and He loved His creation. He loved us, too.

In Genesis 1:27 we read, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” God created us in His own image and gave us rule over the universe. We were not there at creation but we can have faith that He spoke the word and our world came to be. Hebrews 11:3 says, “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.”

It is not hard to look around our world with all its intricate designs and details and know there was a Creator Who formed it all. What a great God! How marvelous it is that we can worship Him. “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” (Revelation 4:11) Let’s never forget to praise Him for all He has created for our benefit!

Task for today: Make a list of the beautiful things in creation you see today. Thank God for what He has created.
