He never scolds us when we are wrong
He gently leads us to where we belong.
Never forces anyone against our will
But gently leads us with caring still.
Every one of us has decisions to make
It is up to each one which way he takes.
God knows our hearts are prone to sin
Still He loves us, and takes us in.
It is only my fault then if I go astray
So I’ll be the one who is forced to pay.
God desires that in happiness we live
Always stands ready our sins to forgive.
So I must not scold when others are wrong
But gently lead them to where they belong.
I must lovingly lead them back to His will
Never impatient, but caring for them still.
Do you have good relationship skills? Do you climb out of bed in the morning ready to face the world and not get into trouble with your mouth or body language? It is probably more difficult for some of us than others and impossible humanly speaking but we can have great relationship skills if we start with having the One relationship that matters most in this world (and the one to come). “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” Jeremiah 33:3
Faith In God
For us to have even a hint of a relationship with God, we must first have faith in Him. How do we obtain faith in Him? “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6, tells us that we must come to Him in faith and believe in Him so that we can have eternal life. Faith in God is the foundation of our spiritual life. What does Ephesians 2:8 say? “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:”
Knowledge Of God
When God saves us and the Holy Spirit indwells us, we begin to thirst for God and to have a knowledge of Him. How can we call on a God we do not know? Hosea 4:6 tells us, “my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge;….seeing thou has forgotten the law of thy God,…” Knowledge of God will bring us closer to Him and love for Him as we study His Word. Psalm 119:66 says, “teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed thy commandments.”
Desire Towards God
Webster’s 1828 defines the word desire as: a wish to possess some gratification or source of happiness which is supposed to be obtainable. What do we desire to possess? What should we desire to possess? Psalm 27:4 lets us know by telling us this, “one thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.” I am thinking that is the most important thing to desire is to dwell with God.
Dependence On God
Dependence means a total trust on our God to supply not only our daily physical needs but our spiritual and yes even our emotional needs. If we have dependence on God there will be no need to be sad, anxious or to worry. I do believe Proverbs 3:5, 6 says it well, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” If we are depending on Him then we can be assured of peace.
By having faith in God as well as knowing Him and having a desire and dependence on Him, it will then bring an obedience to our Savior our God! “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.” (John 14:21)
