A few lazy clouds could now be seen
With the sun shining brightly in between.
The wind then brought the clouds together
Which to us meant some change in weather.
Big black clouds gathering all around
Soon there was snow, sun shining on the ground.
It kept getting darker, yes darker more and more
Thunder and lightning, and the rain began to pour.
I watched those clouds, and listened to the noise
I saw a Mighty God at work, and I rejoiced.
God can be seen in the sunshine, yet in the thunder
Our God is at work, in the sky and down under.
God speaks to us in the still small voice
And if we are listening, we will rejoice.
God speaks boldly sometimes in a thunderous way
Reminding us all of the Great Judgment Day.
Have you ever had something that was made just for you? I’ve had some custom made clothing in the past and monogrammed items. It is always fun to have something personalized. This got me thinking about my recent Bible studies and how much my Bible is customized to fit me each and every day. What I read one morning and learn about or what God speaks to me about is not what you might find in the same verse. The Bible strikes a chord into our hearts for us and no one else. God knows exactly what we need when we read it. He speaks to us directly and makes it very personal.
Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” God’s Word, the Bible is definitely powerful and so sharp that when we read it, it should go through to our inner soul and strike our spirit. We should find His Word changing our thoughts and making the intents of our heart pure and clean as we walk through our day.
God’s Word fits each person.
It is timeless and made to withstand any attack on it. When we read our Bible, the Holy Spirit is there nudging and directing us as we read to open our eyes and accept the verses as personal for us. It is the most amazing experience we could ever have. To be able to open God’s Word and find the passage we are reading that day is exactly what we need and for that moment is so satisfying.
The Bible is made to fit me. It is unlike any other book you will ever read. Jeremiah 23:29 reminds us,“ Is not my word like as a fire? saith the Lord; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?” Made to fit me and made to fit you. Do your devotions speak to you personally and are you being shaped by the study of the Word of God?
It is why I read my Bible every day. I want to grow and be shaped to be more like Him. My desire is a personal relationship with my Savior that is like no other. I want to grow and learn how to be a witness and testimony of His powerful change in my life. I want the Bible to fit me. Made for me – personal, private, special and oh so life-changing. Is your Bible doing this for you?
