Have your children heard this story? It is so important to read and tell these beautiful stories in the Bible to our children. You can find more of these stories not only in His Word but in a book I wrote for children.
(Exodus 13:17 – 14:31)
A pillar of cloud by day and
A pillar of fire by night.
Lead the children of Israel
As they journeyed in God’s might.
The children of Israel started on their long journey with all their children, their animals and their belongings. God was with them and He guided them with a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. However, Pharaoh wasn’t happy. He was losing all these slaves and he wanted them back. Pharaoh took 600 chariots and so many men and chased after the children of Israel.
God had a plan and He told Moses, “But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. (Exodus 14:16) God was going to part the Red Sea and make a dry path for them to cross over on.
It took a strong wind all night to create a dry path but it happened and the children of Israel started walking across the Red Sea with walls of water on either side of them. As they walked I wonder if they could still hear the chariots coming. Soon they were across and safe on the other side but Pharaoh and his men saw what was happening and raced down the path to follow the children of Israel.
The wicked men got into the midst of the path and God caused their wheels to fall off! They were stuck and they said, “…Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the Lord fighteth for them against the Egyptians. (Exodus 14:25) They had seen the power of God. God had other plans though because He caused the sea to cover the path once again and all the Egyptians drowned. God fought and won the battle for the children of Israel!
