Above What We Ask Or Think

“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,”
Ephesians 3:20

Yesterday, I reposted a devotional about being willing to go anywhere as long as we are with our Savior.  I posted that in mind with today’s post.

Nine months ago, my husband was let go of his job.  It came out of the blue (to us) and we were quite shocked.  Being the sole provider of the family and taking this task seriously, he proceeded from day one to apply for jobs.  He applied at over 900 jobs and had dozens of interviews over the past months and every time the door was shut (by God).

It was hard for me, his wife, to see these rejections but we kept telling ourselves that God had a plan that was going to be so different from what either of us could imagine.  I kept telling God that I needed to know now!  God kept telling me to wait.

These past nine months have humbled me as I waited to see what God had in store for us.

My husband never missed a beat in his daily, personal walk with God.  He didn’t stop leading our family in morning devotions and went to the church often to help the pastor.  Pierre was there to serve and serve he did.  He would hate that I’m saying this about him for, to him this was normal.  His love for God led him down his current path.

When Abraham’s servant was asked to go find a wife for Isaac, he had no clue who that wife would be.  He just went.  He prayed to his God and he followed God’s plan.  His conclusion after finding the perfect wife for Isaac? “And he said, Blessed be the Lord God of my master Abraham, who hath not left destitute my master of his mercy and his truth: I being in the way, the Lord led me to the house of my master’s brethren.” Genesis 24:27

In January, we even put our house on the market in case we continued to have no job.  We wanted to be wise with our money.  We had plenty of showings but no one was buying.  Again we wondered what did God have in store for our family.  Pierre kept telling me, “God has something amazing” but it was hard not to be anxious and worry.

A few weeks ago, God revealed His plan to us in such a way that left me crying with praise to the great God we serve.  The emotions still overflow day to day as I praise Him for His grace to us.

Pierre had been applying for remote jobs and jobs around this area.  God closed them all.  Finally, Pierre (he LOVES Florida) said I think I need to throw the net wider and he started to look in other places.  God showed him a job with an internet company.  This company had a President and VP that he had already worked with in Wyoming.  He applied and a couple of weeks later, they asked him to join the company.  Now, not only did God give him this amazing job (they wanted him to come and it showed in their plans for us) but He sold our house the same weekend Pierre got the job.  Nothing to everything?

How great is our God that we serve?

We were trying to be like Paul, “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair.”  Here we were wondering how much longer we could make ends meet and God not only opened the windows of heaven but He poured rich blessings out to us.

So where is God taking us now? We will be moving to the Catskill Mountains of New York state!  I know, it isn’t something I would have thought of in a million years but God is so amazing.  Let’s just take a moment to shout again His praises! I can do no less than the people of Israel!  “And they sang together by course in praising and giving thanks unto the Lord; because he is good, for his mercy endureth for ever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid.” Ezra 3:11

We will be south of Albany and north of New York City.  It is a gorgeous area (as you can see from the pictures).  Pierre started his job mid-June and he is really liking it.  He is still a Florida boy so we won’t remind him of the seasons quite yet!  The girls and I are very excited to see fall and winter again.  Yes, I know, most people tell me I won’t be saying that in January!

Never, never give up on God.

Do not quit trusting Him.  Remember that His plan is perfect when ours has holes in it.  I would not wish to see into my future because then I would miss out on the uncertain times that took me to my knees and the blessed moments of joy when God revealed His plan to us.  I also am looking forward to seeing what God will do with the Geoffrion family in New York.  He has a plan or else He would not have sent us there!

Of course, the only downside of moving is realizing that we have to leave our church family.  We will miss the people at Victory Baptist in Sanford, FL but we praise God for the short time we had to serve with them.  We will miss friends we have met in the past 5 years here but we are grateful always for the internet and the technology we have to stay in touch.

I’ll look forward to sharing new adventures with you all in the future.  For now, I have some packing to do.  Let me leave you with this beautiful old hymn that expresses more than I can say!

If we could see beyond today
As God can see,
If all the clouds should roll away,
The shadows flee,
O’er present griefs we would not fret,
Each sorrow we would soon forget,
For many joys are waiting yet,
For you and me.
If we could know beyond today
As God doth know,
Why dearest treasures pass away
And tears must flow,
And why the darkness leads to light,
Why dreary days will soon grow bright;
Some day life’s wrong will be made right,
Faith tells us so.
If we could see, if we could know,
We often say,
But God in love a veil doth throw
Across our way;
We cannot see what lies before,
And so we cling to Him the more:
He leads us till this life is o’er,
Trust and obey.

EVER TRUSTING AND OBEYING – the Geoffrion family
