A Heart Turned Towards God’s Will

“I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.” Psalm 32:8

What am I going to do? What is the best decision for this moment in my life? Many times we are faced with momentous decisions and we aren’t sure what to do.

I’m facing a health decision right now on whether or not my knees are “bad enough” for surgery.  It has been consuming a lot of my thoughts because why have surgery if I don’t need it and yet what if it is inevitable anyway?  Are there other alternatives that we can do? What are the side effects of the alternatives?  What is the recovery like from surgery?

So many questions to try and find answers, too.  Plus, what doctors do you listen, too?

Life is full of decisions and the medical ones seem to get harder and harder to make the older I get.

What to do?  The first thing I SHOULD be doing is seeking wisdom from God.

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” James 1:5

Another thing that is best to do is to get a second opinion (medically) on what you are facing.

“Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.”

Gathering information on the decision you have to make is wise, as well.

Once you’ve done all this what’s left? Trusting God that He has guided your decision and following through on the plan.

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

I love how verses six here says, “HE will direct thy paths.”  No worries, the hassles of decisions set aside, just perfect rest and peace.

Whatever the decisions we are facing today – let’s face them with a heart turned towards God and His will.
