“O Lord, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.” Psalm 92:5
Job 37:5 says it best. “God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend.” With His voice alone He spoke this world into existence and in just six days! Just walking outside into my backyard and seeing all the different kinds of trees we have in our own little forest along with the plants and birds and the stars above makes me think that our God is great.
He made this vast universe that we are still not finished exploring but He also created me. I am special to Him. You are special to Him. He cares for His creation. “Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.” (Luke 12:6, 7) He cares for you!
O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the works thy hands have made,
I see the stars, I hear the mighty thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.
Mr. Stuart Hine lived over an hundred years ago as an English missionary in Poland. He had learned a Russian song about God being good and this inspired him to recreate a song in English about God’s greatness. The first verse was inspired by a storm he witnessed in a local village. The second verse came about while on a trip with some young people and they saw the beauty of the forest.
Another verse was written upon the conversion of many Carpathian mountain-dwellers. He saw the greatness of God in so many areas of his life and the lives of others that the words just flowed out in praise to His Savior. If we take time to see His greatness everywhere our gratitude will flow easily from our lips.
Take a walk and enjoy the beauty of the world God gave us. Listen to the thunder of a storm and praise Him for His care for us through good times and tough times.
