As we get ready to set April aside and enter the beautiful month of May, let’s discuss what books your children can read this summer. I’ll at least present them to Mellie or suggest we read them together. Keeping her reading when school is finished is always my goal!
What are some books your 8+ year old’s can read?
NATE THE GREAT by Marjorie Weinman Sharmat – Follow Nate the Great and his dog, Sludge, as they eat pancakes and work to solve mysteries for their friends.
LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE by Laura Ingalls Wilder – Written by Laura herself about her families journey through life. We’ve started this series and Mellie has asked me to finish it with her.
SUGAR CREEK GANG by Paul Hutchens – Dive into the many adventures of these boys as they build their faith and show their courage.
PIPPI LONGSTOCKING by Astric Lindgren – Just a fun cute series of an eccentric girl and her many adventures. It less realistic and just more fun for some quick reads and to give the imagination the ability to fly.
Anytime you can get your child reading it can help them grow in so many ways. I have some children who read more than others so I continue to encourage them in this aspect. I can recommend so many more books so comment below the ages of your children and I can be of help!
Enjoy these series and so many more. You can also find a lot of good books on
here, at Thriftbooks, where you can find amazing prices on used (but in great shape) books.
