The Birth Of A Nation

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD;…” Psalms 33:12

This year marks the 250th birthday of the United States of America.  What an accomplishment to reach 250 years as a nation.  Of course, I know that in Europe and Asia, etc. there are many countries much older than ours.  Still as we celebrate this milestone this year, let us take a look (weekly) at how are nation came to be.

It is a nation not without it’s faults and one in which we can point out many problems, but our nation was founded on biblical principles.  This is something no one will ever be able to deny.  I don’t want to get ahead of the story telling but a group of people left England because they sought freedom to worship.

I can’t think of a better reason to relocate, can you?

America, the land we love
With liberty secure,
The founding fathers read God’s Word,
Their thoughts steadfast and sure.

We have a vast land we call our own.
A land so plentiful and free.
Our history shows the hardships faced
By our ancestors on bended knee.

Their knees they bent in prayer to God.
They faced the challenges with care.
In this our gratitude must lie.
As we learn about our country dear.

This year, as we celebrate the birth of our nation, may we not forget to be grateful to our God Who created this land, knowing one day we would be here.  He guided our forefathers to seek freedoms we now enjoy.  God was at the center of their hearts and lives and He can be the same for us.  When we put God first, all else always falls into place.  We are guaranteed success and a life lived in peace and harmony when we are trusting in Him.

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Joshua 1:8
