“Whosoever” surely meaneth me,
Surely meaneth me, oh, surely meaneth me;
“Whosoever” surely meaneth me,
“Whosoever” meaneth me.
The freedom and liberties we have in Christ come from this one word, “whosoever”. It may seem like a bold statement to declare but it’s true – whosoever will can come and find the peace of God through the saving blood of Christ!
I am happy today, and the sun shines bright,
The clouds have been rolled away;
For the Savior said, whosoever will
May come with Him to stay.
What does it mean to come to Christ? John 3:16 reminds us, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Coming to Christ means believing He was sent to suffer greatly to redeem the world and bring everlasting life. Whosoever in this verse means just that! Who ever comes He will save! He died for the whole world. What liberty to know we can live eternally with Him.
All my hopes have been raised, oh, His Name be praised,
His glory has filled my soul;
I’ve been lifted up, and from sin set free,
His blood has made me whole.
Now that my salvation is secure and my hope eternal, I have liberty to praise His name and let the world know of the glory filling my soul. Can you see from this song that we are set free from sin? We have this amazing liberty now in Jesus not to do as we please but to walk away from sin in this world we live in and be blessed with glory filling our soul! “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” II Corinthians 5:17
Oh, what wonderful love, oh, what grace divine,
That Jesus should die for me;
I was lost in sin, for the world I pined,
But now I am set free.
Free! Liberty to live for Him apart from the world. Can you imagine if we all lived like this? What a difference we’d make in the world. Galatians 5:13 says it all when Paul reminded us, “For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.”
If we live in Him with the liberty He has given us, we will live differently from the world but we will show forth such peace and joy that everyone will wonder what makes us so. Whosoever will may come for this liberty. Are you free in Him?
Love this song and can’t stop humming it! Whosoever surely meaneth me. Does it mean you?
