Who Is In Control Of Your Life?

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
Jeremiah 29:11

God knows our beginning from our end.  He has a plan for us.  We love to be in control but we aren’t.  God is! Are we willing to give up holding on to control we do not even have?  Are we willing to stop pretending we hold the reins? It’s a tiresome life that decides they need to control their own instead of sitting back, resting in God and seeing how great things He will do for us.

With my whole heart I humbly seek you;
Now use my life, O Lord, I pray.
I yield my stubborn will completely;
May your commandments light my way.

“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13)  I find it interesting that the only “control” we have is in seeking Him.  All we need to do is look for Him (before salvation) and He promises we will find Him.  After salvation He will never leave.  He will be with us forever.  We say God is guiding our lives but do we live like He is.  Our stubborn wills want to say one thing but act in another way!

My life, Lord, is yours to control;
I give You my heart and my soul.
I’ll seek Your will, never mine,
Rich treasure to find.
Give wisdom to choices I make,
Along ev’ry path that I take.
So when I complete life’s race,
“Well done”, You will say.

I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me. In John 5:30, Jesus even said He sought the will of His father.  How much more should we, as imperfect humans, do so.  Seeking, following and doing His will brings a life of prosperity.  By this, I mean, you will prosper in peace, joy and happiness as you live for Him. Wisdom will come to you because you will be in His Word to follow Him.

Your Word has promised me the vict’ry,
And all I need to do is claim
Your strength to soar with wings as eagles,
To walk, to run, and not to faint.

Probably one of the most well known verses in the Bible is Isaiah 40:31. “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Songs have been written about it and it has been quoted often.  But its promise is true and we must go back to it over and over to see what it says.  The command is WAIT and the promise is RENEW!  The blessings that pour forth then are running and not being weary and then walking and not fainting.  What better joys in our spiritual life can we have than that?

So, is it our life or God’s? Are we letting Him have the control He already has or are we pretending we are in control?  It’s up to us to “let go and let God” even though this is in fact an incorrect statement because He WILL do what He says. Let’s not forget what He said to Isaiah in chapter 46 and verses 9-11.

“Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.”
