WHITER EVEN THAN SNOW

“Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.” Psalm 51:7

There is something refreshing about seeing white sheets hanging on the clothesline. It is great seeing how clean and pure they are or the pure white snow after it first falls.  God sent His Son to earth to die for our sins.  He looked into our hearts and saw blackness caused by our sins and knew that we needed a Savior.

God could not allow sin to enter Heaven but He loved us and wanted His creation to be with Him. He provided us a way of escaping eternal damnation.  “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13) Saved, from that eternal damnation, means to live eternally with our God as we enjoy the blessings of having a heart whiter than even that first snowfall.

Lord Jesus, let nothing unholy remain,
Apply Thine own blood and extract every stain;
To get this blest cleansing, I all things forego—
Now wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

James Nicholson, an Irish immigrant to the USA, wrote this song.  He was a layman for years in his church.  James wasn’t a minister or an evangelist but a church member who knew the forgiveness of sins and wanted to write about it.  He wrote many hymns that expressed praise to His God, showed how God cleanses us from sin, how glorious Heaven is and how protected we are in God’s care.

It is said that a Mormon Irish lady was under conviction after hearing a Gospel message.  She was so burdened as she went about her work that she started to sing, “Lord Jesus, I long to be perfectly whole….to those who have sought Thee, Thou never saidst, No.”  She was saved because she said, “He will never say No, not even to me.”   Her life changed in an instant when her heart became whiter than snow.

Task for today:   Has your heart been made whiter than even snow? Have you shared your story with others?

“I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.” Isaiah 43:25
