What Makes You Grow Daily?

Life is a series of growths, right? A baby is born and we measure every step they take and every ounce they gain. We cheer every pudgy elbow and get excited when they pass each milestone.  As they grow we then measure their growth in school days and firsts and pretty soon they are adults.

Adults talk about growth in their careers, their lives and even bemoan when their bodies grow. What is the most important growth in our lives?  II Peter 3:18 gives us a clue as to what our focus should be on as far as growth is concerned. “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.“ Growing in spiritual aspects of our lives is something to be cheered and something we should do daily.

GRACE

Webster defines grace as: favor; good will; kindness. There are times in our life where it will be easy to show grace to others and there will be times it is difficult. Circumstances do not dictate grace. God’s unmerited favor to us should be the greatest example of grace that we can in turn show to others. James 4:6 explains grace well: “But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.” Grace given to help us through the hardest of tasks or the most difficult of people.

KNOWLEDGE

They say knowledge is power and education important. If we want to have the greatest of spiritual growth then we need to know the Lord Jesus and grow in Him. We first know Him as our Saviour. “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:12, tells us that our salvation comes only through Jesus. After we accept Him our growth should continue through study of the Book He has given us. God’s Word is a treasure of comfort, love, joy, exhortation and learning as well as so much more.

The benediction of a life growing in grace and knowledge of our Lord will be a testimony of peace, joy and hope. What growth will you exhibit today?

This song is one of my favorites. As we grow and our guided by our Jehovah we can rejoice that our life will be green and abundant.
