What Do Your Children See In You?

If you’ve been blessed to identify with this song and it brings a specific person(s) to mind, then you will enjoy hearing about this song’s history.  Besides my parents (I’m pictured above with my family – front row; left – back in the 70’s), my grandfather was an amazing example and left me a legacy of godliness.  Last year, I wrote a book with poems of his that he left behind when he graduated to heaven.  It is all about serving God, choosing joy and setting your eyes on Him.  You can find it here.

I Saw Jesus In You

Ron Hamilton, one of its authors, was raised in a God-fearing home. His parents had him learning musical instruments and singing from a young age. He grew up and went to Bible college and was soon, through a series of tragic events in his life, writing and composing songs for both young and old.

Here is something Ron said in his own words about his father…

“It’s hard to describe the emotions that have continued to flood my soul since my dad went home to heaven. Even though Dad had Alzheimer’s disease for the last twelve years of his life, I still wasn’t ready for him to leave. He was me hero. He was my friend. He and my mother raised three kids to love God; and by God’s grace, we are all serving our Lord today.”

He created a CD, “I Saw Jesus In You” as a tribute to his father and his siblings even joined him on a few of the songs. He also said these beautiful words about his father…

“Working on this recording brought me a lot of joy and a lot of tears. But most of all, it brought into sharp focus the really important things in life. My father loved the Lord with of his heart, and he loved those around him more than he loved himself. It’s quite a humbling revelation to be sitting at your father’s funeral, and to realize that the “ordinary” man you called “Dad” was perhaps the wisest man you’d ever known. I thank God that I can look back over the years and genuinely say, “Thank you, Dad, for letting me see Jesus in you.”

This beautiful song is one of my favorites of his and Mellie loves to sing it with me. My prayer is she will be able to see Jesus in me!  I learned about Jesus through my parents and their example.  You can read about them here.
