“And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament…” Daniel 12:3
Have you ever stopped to look at the stars at night? They twinkle at us and light up the sky. How do they shine so brightly? What makes the stars shine? Simply put a small fraction of atomic mass converts to energy and a star shines brightly.
How can we shine brightly as Christians? Our energy as a Christian will be seen by everyone we meet. Our energy should always be bright and shining for God so that our testimony is seen by all people. Psalm 66:16 gives us a guide of how to make people see Jesus in us. “Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.”
Telling others what He has done for us is a great way to shine brightly as a star. When we show joy on our faces we are offering others hope for their lives. Jeremiah 17:7 reminds us, “Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.” It is good to give hope to those around us.
We shall shine as the stars of the morning,
With Jesus the Crucified One;
We shall rise to be like Him forever,
Eternally shine as the sun.
Mr. Van DeVenter actually started off his adult life teaching in a public high school before switching to evangelism. Think of how his star must have shined brightly to all those students as he talked about His Savior. He lived back in the late 1800’s and had an impact on many, I’m sure. What impact will we leave when we have passed through people’s lives here on earth? What will our children and grandchildren do differently in their lives because we influenced them in godliness?
Task for today: Think of some people you know who need to see your light shining brightly. Reach out to them and show them God’s love.
“That ye may be…the sons of God…in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;” Philippians 2:15
