This is an article I wrote in 2022. It still holds dear to my heart even as my kids grow older. I hope I can help moms of younger kids have some ideas for their schooling.
I have been homeschooling almost 16 years. Before that (when I was single) I would sub a lot (and I mean FREQUENTLY) for my mom in the Christian school.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE school. Have I said how much I LOVE school?

Homeschooling has become our best option and the only option we would now consider. I have schooled our four oldest ’til they were out of high school. This year, we will have one in 10th grade and one 2nd grader
We believed our soon to be 15 year old was our last and set about enjoying the older years of our children. The new found freedom of no babysitters needed (It IS quite amazing). In 2016, God chose to give us one more blessing (I was 44!!). We have been cruising along ever since relearning the art of babyhood to toddlerhood to preschool-hood(?). Life is pretty amazing. I wouldn’t change having a baby at 44 and would do it again in a heartbeat.

One of my joys has come in realizing that I get to grab a hold of her little brain and begin teaching it from scratch. I never used to enjoy subbing for the little kids in the Christian school but having my own children changed all that. Learning WITH them and watching their eyes light up in new discovery is everything.
I’m sharing a website that I have found (in years past) most useful. This site is $20 a year (USD) and you can print as much as you want with it. They also have many free things on it if you don’t want to spend the money. The amount of material though is worth it as you can do a whole preschool curriculum from this. The ages go well past preschool. You can keep your elementary and even middle school kids busy with projects and games in any subject. I have really come to enjoy it. It is a great time filler to print a picture for the kids to do when you’re working with another child.
Enjoy and find your material at: https://members.enchantedlearning.com/home.shtml
Homeschool is NOT for the faint of heart. It takes dedication and structure to some degree and of course discipline but it also can evolve year by year to meet the specific need of each child as well as revolving around your schedule.
UPDATE: The site is now $30/year but still worth it. Also, I am down to just one homeschooler (she is in 5th grade). Keep working Mamma because you can do this and it will be worth it. God has called us to educate our children in the Lord and by His Word so your job IS truly the most important!
“Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.” Psalm 127:3
“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
