Live With Eternal Hope

“I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.” John 12:46

My thoughts today, I hope it won’t rain on the weekend.  I hope my new book gets here soon.  I hope that I can still go on Saturday to that picnic.  Hope is a great word.  It means:  a desire of some good, accompanied with at least a slight expectation of obtaining it.  We love to anticipate good things happening but the greatest hope we have is in our Lord.

We can KNOW that we are going for sure by accepting Jesus died for our sins.  He died for all.  “The Lord is…not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” (II Peter 3:9)  Anyone can be saved.  Anyone can enjoy the hope of Heaven and that is not a slight expectation in the least but a solid promise from God.

All my hopes have been raised, O His name be praised,
His glory has filled my soul;
I’ve been lifted up, and from sin set free,
His blood has made me whole.

James Edwin McConnell was known as “Smilin Ed McConnell”.  He worked with his preacher father, helping in evangelistic meetings by playing the piano, leading the singing and directing choirs.  He also had a broadcast in the 1920’s called, “Hymn Time”.  Imagine the joy and the hope he brought many who listened to this broadcast.  He was another hymn writer who lived through two World Wars and yet his songs are so full of hope and encouragement.  No matter the difficulties in our lives, no matter the sins we have committed, God has called whosoever to believe on Him and be saved.  Are you a whosoever?  Have you accepted Him as your hope for Heaven?  Has His blood made you whole?

“For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?” Romans 8:24
