Oh, to trust Jesus through every day
Just to trust Jesus in every way.
Oh just to keep my eyes ever on Him
Just to trust Him when the way is dim.
Sometimes my way seems dark and drear
I’m learning to know that He is near.
Learning to wait when all seems wrong
Learning to trust Him my faith grows strong.
Satan tempts me in his crafty ways
I must trust Jesus and give Him praise.
Learning to listen for His still small voice
Oh just to trust Him in all my days.
We tend to lose things daily and some things while tangible and easy to find, others are not and we need to depend, to trust, in God to find these things for us. What are some things that we sometimes lose that God must give us daily?
Strength
I’ve been losing my strength daily for years now and without the immediate help from my Heavenly Father, I’d never get to find it and carry on. Strength is so important in daily life. We need it especially when facing the trials of life such as now. We need strength to keep going when we’ve lost all control and do not know what is lying across our path ahead. Isaiah 40:29 says, “He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.” Some days, I look back and just thank God for what He allowed me to accomplish in that day.
Trust
Have you ever lost trust in someone or something? Of course, we’ve all seen the illustration of putting trust in a chair. We don’t go and inspect every chair we sit in to make sure it will hold us up, we just sit. We trust in myriads of inanimate objects every day yet we so quickly lose trust in our Heavenly Father that He will take care of us. In these times, I’m often reminded of the verse about the sparrows.
Matthew 10:29 reminds us, “Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.” He takes care of the myriads of little birds in the earth and yet we know we are of more value. God counts our hairs and He collects our tears. God cares for us and we can’t trust Him? We really do have no cause for worry or for fear when we are the children of God!
Remember, God fed the Israelites for over 40 years in the wilderness on manna from heaven. He gave them just enough to supply their needs. Their garments and shoes never wore out either! He is so kind to us when we don’t deserve it. We complain about our lot in life and He shows kindness and gives us a bit more of what we need for that day. Throughout the toil of the day, God is also giving us peace and rest. I love that no matter what is happening in my life, I can feel blessed with peace that God is already down the path taking care of me!
Cares
I have lost (given up) the cares of this world because I know that daily the Lord Himself is near me! I can find joy and cheer in this because He owns the cattle on a thousand hills and He will take care of me! Each hour, He has a special mercy for me for my need in that hour. Some days, it may just be the courage to walk through the pain and other days it might be that added strength to get through a fog of fatigue to teach the children or fix a meal.
He already knows what I will need so He bears me up and cheers me. “And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power.” (Ephesians 1:19) The protection we enjoy as the children of God and the promise of strength He has made is such a comfort to me. Deuteronomy 33:25 says, “as thy days, so shall thy strength be.”
Faith’s Sweet Consolation
Faith is something everyone talks about having but do they really understand faith? We have faith when we are saved that Jesus’ blood has covered all our sins. We believe and have that glorious moment of realizing our eternity is now in Him. After this, we seem to live our Christian life with more fear than faith. The word “consolation” is defined as “something that consoles”. To console then means “to alleviate grief or a sense of loss”.
So faith now becomes to us, as Christians, something that alleviates our sense of loss and our grief. Why are we depressed? Why are we feeling as if all is lost? We should be filled with rejoicing because our faith is strong in the battle. Can we give glory to God for our strengthened faith?
Romans 4:20, “He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;” With faith found again we can remember that this life is but a passing moment before we reach heaven. James 4:14 tells us, “Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.”
Is it any good to lose our faith over worrying about tomorrow?
We can never lose our salvation but we can lose our faith in the Lord by worrying about our life. Our own life isn’t in our control so every time we worry; we are trying to wrestle control back from He Who is in control. It’s not worth it. He has our life best in His hands. He will help with every toil and trouble that comes along.
These are great attributes that God gives us and when we lose them we can find them again.
