Helpers Who Bring Joy

“Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.” Philippians 2:4
Today I am thankful for helpers.

Helpers in the home that work tirelessly to fix, organize, clean and straighten.
Helpers in the church who take time to clean and prepare coffee and get sweet treats for us.
Helpers at work (whether your are self-employed or not) who will answer a myriad of questions.
Helpers in the neighborhood who deliver misplaced mail and keep a watch on your area.

Helpers are needed in my life more so now than ever. My pace of life has had to slow down.  I’ve been on a mega trip this fall and I only did well because we planned breaks.  I would break for days at a time. When your body is broken, you need helpers.  Having hEDS has taught me much about this.  I have had to stop trying to do everything on my own and start asking for help.

God’s plan is for us to help each other.  “Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2) When we help others we are holding their burdens with them.  This means a lot to people who have many burdens.  I have tried to help others with this blog and the books I have written.  Encouragement is definitely a form of help.

Who are your helpers? Also, who will you help today?

Look all around you, find someone in need,
Help somebody today!
Though it be little—a neighborly deed—
Help somebody today!
Help somebody today,
Somebody along life’s way;
Let sorrow be ended,
The friendless befriended,
O help somebody today!
Many are waiting a kind, loving word,
Help somebody today!
Thou hast a message, O let it be heard,
Help somebody today!
Many have burdens too heavy to bear,
Help somebody today!
Grief is the portion of some everywhere,
Help somebody today!
Some are discouraged and weary in heart,
Help somebody today!
Someone the journey to Heaven should start,
Help somebody today!
