Grateful For Stillness

“Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalms 46:10

If you go outside and just sit you will become aware of the beauty of God’s earth. You will also find a strength in just being still with God. Walking or swimming or just sitting outside always brings me to a place of contemplation on all He has done for me.

I’m grateful that I know HIM and know that He can take care of me no matter what the circumstances. I can just be still and know. When we take the time to focus on Him, to wait on His leading, then we know true peace.  Sometimes we want an immediate answer when there is no immediate answer to give.  We must be still and we must wait on what God wants us to do!

In the stillness of this moment
In the darkness of the night.
I can hear a voice so tender
I can see a wondrous light.
Be still and know that I am God
Be still and know I am God.
Come find your strength in the quiet place
Be still and know.
In the stillness of this moment
Heaven’s glory I can see.
Shining forth in brilliant splendor
God’s creation speaks to me.
Be still and know that I am God
Be still and know I am God.
Come find your strength in the quiet place
Be still and know.

How many times in this song are we told to be still?  Just stopping, listening to God and waiting on Him can be as productive as movement.  In a society that is constantly on the move with noise all around them, let’s be His people who wait!

“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31
