“But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.” Matthew 9:12
Today I am grateful to have a Savior Who not only heals physically but spiritually. This song came to mind this morning as I woke up at 5am and forced myself to go back to bed until 7:30. I have a sinus infection and NEED to rest. I kept thinking of my to-do list but I finally talked myself into more sleep. I’m a morning person but I know that sometimes we just need rest.
The great Physician now is near,
The sympathizing Jesus;
He speaks the drooping heart to cheer,
Oh, hear the voice of Jesus.
Your many sins are all forgiv’n,
Oh, hear the voice of Jesus;
Go on your way in peace to heav’n,
And wear a crown with Jesus.
In the same vein, spiritually, sometimes we just need rest. Rest from the world and all it’s crazy rushing around. The best rest is in Him when we live in God’s Word. Rest from labor – yes, we do NOT have to be moving all the time.
All glory to the dying Lamb!
I now believe in Jesus;
I love the blessed Savior’s name,
I love the name of Jesus.
His name dispels my guilt and fear,
No other name but Jesus;
Oh, how my soul delights to hear
The charming name of Jesus.
Today, I will rest and tomorrow I will be in church ready to sing, interpret for the deaf and be challenged in His Word. This comes only because of the great Physician Who I serve!
And when to that bright world above,
We rise to see our Jesus,
We’ll sing around the throne of love
His name, the name of Jesus.
Sweetest note in seraph song,
Sweetest name on mortal tongue;
Sweetest carol ever sung,
Jesus, blessed Jesus.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,” Luke 4:18
