For The Love Of Coffee

Coffee is a great drink to wake up to in the morning. I love grabbing a cup first thing in the morning as I start my day. What kind of coffee is important?  We will get to that. What are some health benefits on coffee? We’ve gone back and forth over the years about its benefits but the general consensus has come up with some pretty solid studies on some ways coffee benefits us. For me, this is icing on the cake as I sit and sip. So what are they?

You Could Live Longer

Women should love this one as studies have shown that a moderate amount of coffee could help guard against heart disease, strokes, diabetes and kidney disease.

You May Process Glucose (Or Sugar) Better

This is from a study that people who drink coffee may be less susceptible to diabetes.

You’re Less Likely To Develop Heart Failure

Drinking one or two cups of coffee may help ward off heart failure.  This is when a weakened heart has difficulty pumping enough blood to the body.

You Are Less Likely To Develop Parkinson’s Disease

Not only is coffee linked to lowering a chance of developing Parkinson’s disease but it also may help those with the condition to better control their movements.

Your Liver Will Thank You

Research seems to show that a couple cups of coffee is more likely to have enzyme levels within a healthy range than non coffee drinkers.

Your DNA Will Be Stronger

Dark roast coffee is known to decrease breakage in DNA strands, which occurs naturally but can lead to cancer if not repaired by your cells.

Your Odds Of Getting Colon Cancer Goes Way Down

While 1 in 23 women will develop colon cancer, researchers found that coffee drinkers were 26% less likely to get colon cancer.

You May Decrease The Chances Of Alzheimer’s

Almost two-thirds of people living with Alzheimer’s are women.  The caffeine provided in two cups of coffee may provide significant protection against this disease. Researchers found women older than 65 who drank two to three cups of coffee a day were much less likely to develop dementia.

You’re Not As Likely To Suffer A Stroke

The fourth leading cause of death for women is a stroke. Drinking one cup of coffee makes it less likely for women to have a stroke.
While many of these are practical and the research has been done, all in all I would suggest moderation in your coffee drinking habits. I also love a cute mug and I found this one recently at JoAnn’s. Isn’t it adorable? A good coffee brand goes a long way and I have two favorites at the moment. The first is a Canadian favorite, Tim Horton’s coffee. If you live in Canada you can find a Tim Horton coffee shop on every corner. If you’re living in the Deep South of the USA, you can buy it online here. I also love Blackout Coffee. You can find it here. They always have sales and their flavored coffee is amazing. We have a coffee machine that takes ground or whole bean so we always have options. Coffee goes a long way in getting my body moving in the morning but so does the study of God’s Word and a prayer of strength for the day.  Being a mother takes great strength so if you need extra encouragement today try reading this article. What’s your favorite coffee?
