On this President’s Day, I wanted to share a poem my grandfather wrote and my thoughts on America. My grandfather helped build this land when he got the call to help build the Fort Peck Dam. His brothers and he went to help and on September 22, 1938, there was a terrible accident and his brother Archie Moir lost his life there. My great-uncle and five others are still buried in the dam. Here is an article about that tragedy. Men like Grandpa and his brothers don’t come along every day. They worked hard, they served the Lord and their country and they loved America.
America, the land of the great terrains
Mountains, hills, and the rolling plains.
Beautiful land with fast moving streams
This is the land of fulfilled dreams.
Beautiful scenery, enhancing our land
Snow-capped mountains and beaches of sand.
Waterfalls, trees and plants of all kind
All this beauty created by the Mastermind.
With rocks and rills and trickling streams
America, the land of many fulfilled dreams.
This is the land where our freedoms were born
The land of golden wheat and fields of corn.
America, the land that made our fathers proud
It is the land of plenty and is well-endowed.
America, we thank you for leaders of early days
Who prayed for guidance and gave God the praise.

Here in America, we are on the verge of becoming like other socialistic countries where our rights are violated (as Christians) and persecution seems like it could be just around the corner. Are we strong, Christians? Can we stand up and be a Daniel or an Esther who was told that she was born, “for such a time as this”?
I know God placed me in this time and not another for His purpose. I’m praying I remember this as I pray for our nation today and seek Him. I do believe there are two big jobs we face as Christians.
Stand For Our Rights
We need to remember that the Constitution was written for us, the people and we have rights that cannot be violated. We can stand for these rights by not backing down and giving up. I will carry my Bible and I will pray in public. We have the right to carry a gun and to say what we believe. I believe that everyone has the inherent right to say what they want (in America) no matter how dumb it sounds.
Witness, Time Is Short
Now is not just the time to stand for our rights but much more importantly it is time to witness to those we come in contact with on a daily basis. We must get the word out that HE IS COMING BACK! This earth is not a forever earth. Our homes are not forever homes. We are pilgrims set to end our journey in heaven and without Him; people will end their lives here on earth to spend an eternity in hell.
Do we want to see those we love and know come in contact with this? Do we want their eternity to not be where God is with no peace, no joy, and no comfort? Take today to witness to someone you love, someone you know, or someone you come in contact with. “Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.” Matthew 9:37, 38.
