A hidden city, a whale and the Amazon River; what do all these have in common? They are combined into two books that I think everyone can enjoy. I read these as a teen and loved them. I can say I’m not much for Sci-Fi but these two books tugged at my heart in many unexpected ways and definitely pulled me in.
Hidden City Of The Amazon
Book #1 gives us the back story of Steve who is a missionary kid. He’s been in the States attending high school but while home in the Amazon with his parents, he discovers a hidden city and oh the adventure begins. It’s a fun and refreshing book with some unexpected twists and turns. You can find it
here on Amazon in Kindle edition!
The Green Whale of the Amazon
Book #2 carries on the story of Steve with his new friends but added in now are some high stack happenings, a mystery and a wee bit of technology that for him seemed Sci-Fi almost. This is a book you won’t want to put down. The personal stories within this book are also heart-tugging.
Here is the second book on Amazon.com however because they are hard to find it is not on Kindle.

I’ve had about 3 copies of each book because I have loaned them out or lost them. It’s been worth finding them again and I hope to keep my copies this time.
What books get you excited to read and read again? Taking time to read for yourself is reenergizing for us as parents. Taking time to read with your children is relaxing. I can see reading this set of books to middle school children but if you need more ideas of what to read to your children this summer, check out
this article I wrote recently. If you haven’t figured it out by now, I love to read. Reading not only can be relaxing but can be educational. Even God’s Word reminds us the benefit of learning.
