The Best Book Of All To Review

“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” Psalms 119:11

It is not always easy to memorize verses in the Bible.  As I grow older, I’m finding the brain is having a harder time retaining them.  However, I’m still going to persevere.  As a family, we have memorized many verses and go over and over them.  Repetition is key, eh?

Another way to hide God’s Word in our hearts is to take the time to write verses down.  There is something about the physical activity of copy work that helps with our brains to connect to the words and retain them more easily.  This is just my thoughts on it not science.

A Norwegian neuroscientist spent 20 years proving that the act of writing by hand changes the human brain in ways typing physically cannot.

My book review today is about the best book in the world.  It is the most bought and read.  This book when read whether 1,000 years ago or today is still relevant.  It has been preserved and passed down for thousands of years and yes, still rings true today!

The Bible – God’s Word!

Each morning, I rise (hopefully before Melanie) and get ready for my day.  The most important activity that I do is to sit down and meet with God.  Time spent in prayer and reading His Word grounds me for my day.  Over the years, though, I have found that just reading chapter after chapter while good, wasn’t helping me really understand His Word.

Over time, I have come to find the best way for ME to study His Word is to copy it.  I have been going book by book.  Usually copying an Old Testament book and then a New.  I take my time and set to paper a few verses a day.  I have found this makes them stick in my mind much longer and I see significances in the verses much better.

Over the last 2-3 years (I didn’t give myself a start date so I don’t 100% remember when I started this), I have copied 40 books of the Bible.  I’m currently on my 41st which is the book of Luke.

Whether you find it best to read a chapter or two, copy some verses or read a few verses and journal about it; the most important thing is just to be in THIS Book!  It is the best way to start your day as you dive into God’s will for your life.  It will help you begin your day with a meek and quiet spirit and carry you through the hard times that are bound to pop up throughout your day!

God’s Word never fails! And in the words of the Gospel of Luke…

“Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.” Luke 21:33
