Where Is Your Safe Space?

“Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.”  Ephesians 5:17

Everyone is talking about safe spaces nowadays. Everyone seems to need one. I hurt for people who do not know God because then there really is no true safe space. Do you know where your safe space is? I know where mine is and I’m in it right now. In fact, I have never left it. I’m surrounded by it daily and carry it with me.  My safe space is being in the will of God! That is the safest place for any Christian to be. How can we then, go through any trial we have? Our safe space (remember that’s being in the will of God) makes the circumstances of life so much better.

Being in the will of God will make life doable.  Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” We aren’t working through life’s circumstances alone.  We have our Heavenly Father (God the Father), our Great Shepherd (God the Son), and our Great Teacher (God the Holy Spirit) all to be near us. Life is doable in my safe space (the will of God).

My stubborn will at last hath yielded;
I would be Thine, and Thine alone;
And this the prayer my lips are bringing,
Lord, let in me Thy will be done.

Burdened in life? Can’t move? Is the path looking long and difficult? Whatever the path that God has asked you to walk, He makes it walk-able. He is beside you and He is in front of you to walk in the paths of life.  I love this verse in Psalm 142:3a, “When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path.” I will never be alone even when I feel overwhelmed, I can bow my head and know that God is walking with me. Life is walk-able in my safe space (the will of God).

I’m tired of sin, footsore and weary,
The darksome path hath dreary grown,
But now a light has ris’n to cheer me;
I find in Thee my star, my sun.

Did you know that in my safe space, tests are grace-able. Remember the now famous song, “He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater…” God does give grace. When we live wholly in God’s will, we can be assured that no matter what life’s circumstances are, we have His grace. Psalm 84:11 is so reassuring, “For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.” I’m so glad that God gives me grace. Life is grace-able in my safe space (the will of God).

Shut in with Thee, O Lord, forever,
My wayward feet no more to roam;
What power from Thee my soul can sever?
The center of God’s will my home.

The only way you can have a safe space free of all fear is to be in the will of God. The way to be in the will of God is to know Christ as your Lord and Savior first and foremost. I have never regretted living in the will of God. Life is so full of joy even in the midst of hard times and it is doable, walk-able and grace-able (my words) when you’re in His sweet will.

Sweet will of God, still fold me closer;
Till I am wholly lost in Thee;
Sweet will of God, still fold me closer,
Till I am wholly lost in Thee.
