“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23
By nature, we were born sinners. We are all sinners and nothing we do can help us reach heaven. We have come short of getting there by our own goodness because we still have sin in our lives. However there is a gift we can accept that will help us get to heaven. Eternal life is this free gift. Something already paid for on the cross and by the blood of Jesus Christ. When you receive a gift for your birthday does the person giving you the gift ask you to do something in order to receive that gift? No! That is salvation. It is free. You just have to reach out and accept that Jesus died for your sins! Our sins cannot get us into the purity of God’s presence but accepting that Jesus’ blood is the only way sure can! Romans 6:23 is a good reminder of this. It says, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
I’ve found a friend, who is all to me,
His love is ever true;
I love to tell how He lifted me
And what His grace can do for you.
Before we accept God’s saving grace in our lives we are actually His enemies. When we are dead in our sins, we are the servants of sin. Satan is definitely the enemy of God and we need to turn from him to a loving Savior. We were the enemies of God before we were saved but even so He loved us.
Romans 5:8 says, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” He gave us love even while we were as of yet not saved! Romans 10:9 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
He saves me from every sin and harm,
Secures my soul each day;
I’m leaning strong on His mighty arm;
I know He’ll guide me all the way.
Now that we have prayed and told God that we are indeed sinners in need of a Savior; now that we have asked Jesus to forgive us our sins and come into our heart and dwell within; we are saved. Saved? This means eternally secure in Christ and drawn far away from eternal burning in hell. Our home now rests in heaven and we are just pilgrims on this earth!
It’s all so amazing but how do we keep our salvation because we are still humans and we will still sin? We can’t keep our salvation! Our salvation is kept by Jesus Christ. No one can take us from Him. We are secure and our assurance lies in Him. Romans 10:13 tells us, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
When poor and needy and all alone,
In love He said to me,
Come unto Me and I’ll lead you home,
To live with Me eternally.
No sin can enter heaven so therefore no sinner can enter heaven. Thank God I am saved. I’m free from the bondage of sin and I’m daily growing by reading His Word and talking with Him. If you are saved then your value to God is as one who is His child. The value of each soul saved is precious in His sight and the angels rejoice over each salvation story. Luke 15:10 says, “Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.”
Saved by His power divine,
Saved to new life sublime!
Life now is sweet and my joy is complete,
For I’m saved, saved, saved!
