Mondays – Embrace or Dread?

“It is of the Lord‘s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23

It’s Monday.  Do you embrace or dread Mondays?

I used to embrace them!  Back in the years when we had five small kids at home, Mondays meant back to the routine of school or just housework and structure during the summer.  I embraced having a routine and carrying it out.

Now that I’m older and I have only one child in school, things have changed.  My life has also changed, too, with my chronic pain so Mondays are less embraced now.

Sundays are my most intensive day (always have been but I just notice that more now that I live with chronic pain).  We are so busy with our church that we don’t rest much.  But do I regret that, dislike it or lose my joy over not just chilling on Sundays? NEVER!

I plan ahead for them.

Then, I give myself grace to not embrace Mondays by jumping out of bed early and thinking – wow a brand new week to work through.  I am cautious as I get up and I always plan on a slow day.

Chronic pain sometimes means you have to plan ahead if you want to do something major.  But, that is the beauty of my work being in my home – I can do this.

Whether you embrace Mondays or dread them – choose to find the joy in them.

My joy today is coming from the fact that I’m exhausted and in pain BECAUSE of a wonderful Sunday.   I had the privilege of signing the Sunday services to the deaf and helping them in their walk with God.  My hands may be swollen and puffy today but it means they were used to help others.

Whatever your circumstances are don’t dread a new day but embrace it.  If God is your Father than you have a reason to rejoice!

“This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24
