“Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers.” I Timothy 4:12
Setting an example can be a bit daunting in our youth but it is also a great time to serve God and set this example as we are filled with energy and we do not have all the responsibilities that adults have. I remember how much fun I had and what joy it was to work in our church’s bus ministry, teach a Sunday School class and serve in the music ministry of our church as a teen.
My father was the pastor but I was serving because I wanted too not because I had, too. It was a joy to bring my talents to God and have Him use them. Peter encourages us in I Peter 4:10 to serve God for the sake of serving others. “As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” In serving others we are showing them the grace of God in our lives that can be in their lives, as well.

Alfred Ackley was very musically trained in many areas. He was an accomplished cello player and also wrote 1500 songs in his life. He even worked with Billy Sunday for a few years (famous evangelist). His life was about serving his Lord and bringing his talents with him. God is looking for people who want to serve Him and are willing to follow Him.
Isaiah heard the Lord ask a question and he willingly answered that he would take up the task. “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.” (Isaiah 6:8) When God calls us into serving Him (when we are saved) and we answer that we are ready we will have a blessing through all our earthly days.
