Homeschooling Without Textbooks?

Monday our second son left for boot camp (or BMT) with the Air Force.  It’s been a week of staying busy until we can hear from him again.  This is not my first rodeo since our firstborn son went back in 2014.  However, it is still never easy when children grow up and move out to be on their own.  However, I’m excited watch his journey and I’ll be praying he stays close to God.

One of the beauties of homeschooling is that we can weave every day life experiences and chores into our routine.

I love that we don’t have to rush home after a 6-8 hour day at school and do homework, chores, etc.  It is such a beautiful unhurried life I have as a homeschooler.

This week we have done our math and some reading but mostly we have been turning Timothee’s room into a girl hang out spot.  I’m still trying to come up with a fun name since it will be like a daily meeting spot for us.

With six children and only two left at home, we are adapting to the new normal.

So we decided to have fun with our schooling this week and move his room around.  This is also a very part of schooling for a child.  It is important they learn to not only do chores but to help others.  Melanie has been amazing in helping me move things around, clean and organize.

We were able to sell his loft bed and I have to say it has kept us busy and not worried about him as we make this room our own.

We have always had our children involved in our activities because this IS how they will learn.  I won’t tell you how many times we have moved over the years but lets just say my children should start a moving company!  In all this we make it fun, educational and an opportunity to work together!

So here’s to a new era (Tim don’t forget to write!) and a new creative learning center!

(stay tuned – next week we should have a finished look!)

“And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.” Isaiah 54:13
