Following All The Way

My life is held by a tiny little cord
Awaiting the day I will meet my Lord.
Earthly things will then pass away
And I will enter that heavenly day.
Oh blessed thought, that I can know
When all is ended here, I shall go.
Go then to be with Christ, my Friend.
When, for me, life on earth shall end.
Memories of the past I’ll then leave
I will enter heaven because I believe.
He said, “I go to prepare a place for you
That where I am, you can go there, too.”
Life I have spent with friend and foe
And from them all, I now must finally go.
My life on earth has been so good to me
But what a better place eternity will be.

In the Christian life, we have One we follow and He not only knows the way but He is the way! We can never be lost when we are following Him. My grandfather (author of above poem) followed God to the end of his life.  His testimony all through life was one of following His Savior.  How can we follow God?

Following Through Salvation

The very first place we follow Him is to the cross for salvation. Jesus came to die. He was born as a babe, knowing full well that as the Son of God, He would die a horrible death as He took our sins on us and paid the penalty for our sins. Eternal security is given through His death and subsequent resurrection. He asked us to follow Him. Have you followed Him through salvation? Matthew 16:24 says, “Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”

Following Through Storms

When we become Christians, our life doesn’t turn magically into butterflies and rainbows. We still have to battle our flesh every day until we die. Life is still about good days and bad days but guess what?  Those bad days can be so much better if we remember to follow Him through the storms. Remember the story of Peter? He saw Jesus walking on the water and he left the boat to walk, as well, on the water, in the midst of a storm.

As long as he looked at the Savior, he was fine but read what it says here in Matthew 14:30, “But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.” He took his eyes off and began to sink.  When we are going through a storm, a trial and we take our eyes off the Savior that is when the day turns bad.  It won’t always be easy but as the child’s chorus reminds us, “With Christ in the vessel you can smile at the storm…”

Following Through Sickness

This one is a tough one for me some days as Jesus is leading me down this path of chronic pain.  I need to follow Him. He knew I would be in pain daily but He is there to lead me as well.  I have to follow Jesus. Now, I follow Him when He says slow down or take time to pray about what you need to do. He knows. He is already there!

Following Through Situations

Situations in our world today change on a daily basis and they aren’t always getting better.  You may be sick or have a trial and you wonder when things will change.  Pray you get better, praise God for His strength and follow Jesus through the situation. Do we follow Him in every area of our lives? He is the best One to follow.

Today when you start to worry about the path you have to take, remember He is in front of you, and follow Him!
