Is It Morning In Your Heart?

As is often the case, I woke up with a song going through  my head this morning.  Today it was a song about having morning in your heart.  I haven’t thought of this song in years! However, it is a great song for this time period in my life.

All the darkness of the night has passed away
It is morning in my heart.
I am living in the sunlight of the day,
It is morning in my heart.

Waking up is not so much a challenge for me.  I’ve always been a morning person.  It is getting out of bed that is proving more and more difficult.  I don’t often feel rested so the desire to stay in bed is strong.  However, I also have always loved getting up to have quiet devotions and coffee so I usually talk myself into starting my day before anyone else.  “My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.” (Psalm 5:3)

It is so refreshing to wake up in the morning knowing we will have a fresh day with new adventures, thoughts and tasks accomplished.  Some days I review what I accomplished and it was a load of laundry.  I still cheer for myself!  Other days I get much more done.  Whatever, the task is I want to praise Him for strength to do it.

I can hear the songbirds singing their refrain
It is morning in my heart.
And I know that life for me begins again
It is morning in my heart.

We have many birds around here and bird watching is something I enjoy.  Hearing birds chirping away usually shows us the sun is up and we can sing with them.  We can be content that God has given us this day to accomplish even the most minor tasks for Him.  “This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24 is a great promise but also a wonderful command.  The promise of a new day which GOD has created for us and the command to rejoice and be glad.  How can we NOT help but sing?

It is morning, it is morning in my heart
Jesus made the gloomy shadows all depart.
Songs of gladness now I sing for since Jesus is my King
It is morning, it is morning in my heart.

What songs are you singing? Ephesians 5:19 gives the best command (I think) for keeping us growing as Christians and showing the world we have a great Savior.  “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.”

We may not have much sunshine today and it may be colder than we’d like.  It may be that we have many aches and pains or trials we are dealing with.  But, it can always be morning in our hearts and with morning brings a freshness we can’t help but sing about.

Praise God for mornings!
