Living In The Moment

I will stop feeling guilty when my health gets in the way of life events and plans.

If you have ever had a MOMENT of pain you know that in that MOMENT you are not thinking of anything but finding a solution to the pain and resolving it. You are in the MOMENT of that pain. When pain strikes or even on those days I’m not in pain, I want to live just in that MOMENT and not think about the myriad of things not getting done or the hurt I’m going to feel when I take that next step. I want to concentrate on that one MOMENT and finding a solution just for that one MOMENT.

Living in the MOMENT can be very hard for us especially nowadays with social media inundating us to go here or look up this and now look up that. They ask you to commit to an event 3 weeks down the road or a fundraiser that is a month away. Every day we find that pressure to jump ahead and think about tomorrow forgetting that today is the day we have to live in. This MOMENT is the one we need to put our whole body, soul and spirit into.

The most important thing you can do as you live in the MOMENT is to make sure your eternal soul is secure in the salvation of the Lord. II Corinthians 6:2 says, “…behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” We can’t live in the MOMENT but forget about our soul. This is one decision you must not put off. Live the MOMENT thinking it may be your last and it will lead you to salvation.

What else does living in the MOMENT make me think of? It reminds me that I can’t wait ’til my house is in perfect order to sit down and write a devotional. This MOMENT makes me not wonder about if I will be in too much pain to go to church in two days but what can I do now to better my health for tomorrow.

Living in the MOMENT means you put down the social media and pick up that baby that seemingly yesterday was inside your womb and now is toddling around the house. You stop cleaning the floor to read to that baby. You realize that you are never too tired to listen to what your teen is coming to tell you in that MOMENT. You stay awake in the middle of the night to text back and forth that military son who is living on the other side of the world.

Living for Jesus means you live in the MOMENT and ask Him for guidance on what you do every MOMENT of every day. This means you are wanting to be like Him in every MOMENT of your day. This month as we settle in to the idea that spring may – no it will, come; let’s live in this MOMENT and ask God for strength for this MOMENT. This MOMENT of driving to the church while living with pain so your child can have a violin lesson. This MOMENT of working with a bunch of fun teen girls at church so they can learn to serve God better. This MOMENT of stopping all projects to swim with the children even though you’ve already swam once today and are tired. Living in the MOMENT means living out what God is asking you to do for that MOMENT in time.

Today, I’d rather have that MOMENT in my health where I live for Him and rely on Him to guide, strengthen and uphold.

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4
