A Channel Only For Christ

“Now then we are ambassadors for Christ,…” II Corinthians 5:20

What is a channel? Webster defines it as: In a general sense, a passage; a place of passing or flowing; particularly, a water course. Are we channels for Christ? We can be channels for Christ by being a witness, a testimony and walking circumspectly in this world. Ephesians 5:15 says, “see then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise.”

The first thing in being His channel is to praise and thank Him for His salvation. When we show gratitude and are filled with thanksgiving it sets the tone to be a channel, a place flowing with His greatness to help others walk right as well.

How I praise Thee, precious Savior,
That Thy love laid hold of me;
Thou hast saved and cleansed and filled me
That I might Thy channel be.

After we know Christ as our Savior and are filled with gratitude, we can then look around us and find others who need to know Him. We can be a channel of blessing to encourage others to know Him and to be walking the path He has for them. Full salvation comes freely and simply in calling out on His name for His mercy and forgiveness of sins. We can send the message out to all.

I love what Matthew 5:16 says, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Being a channel of blessing means your light shines bright enough to attract others to learn about what you’ve been blessed with. They will want what you have.

Just a channel full of blessing,
To the thirsty hearts around,
To tell out Thy full salvation,
All Thy loving message sound.

Before I start to walk my day and do the multiple tasks at hand, I meet with God and fill up on strength through Him. I seek forgiveness so my vessel can be clean and ready for the Master’s use. I have no power on my own. God gives as I need. Have you experienced this? II Timothy 2:21 explains this well, “if a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.” Make me a vessel unto honor, today, Lord.

Emptied that Thou shouldest fill me,
A clean vessel in Thy hand;
With no pow’r but as Thou givest
Graciously with each command.

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.” In Psalm 28:7, I can see how the Lord is my power. He helps when I need it (by hour, by minute, by seconds even) and because of this my heart sings loudly and my voice is always showing those around me those songs. We can be channels daily for Him if we are willing. He gives us free will to choose. Our joy then comes from being His channel.

Channels only, blessed Master,
But with all Thy wondrous pow’r
Flowing through us, Thou canst use us
Every day and every hour.

One way I wanted to be a channel for Him is in writing joyful words for others.  Channels of blessings in words to bless others.
