Telling Your Child Bible Stories

I have written a book designed for children of all ages to help with this.  Have them read it on their own or read it with them.  This simple devotional book takes them through the Bible to give them a head start on personal devotions.  THIS lesson is on Adam & Eve.  The book is chronological and also you could use it in your homeschooling as a Bible course.

Adam & Eve
(Genesis 2:7, 8, 15-25)

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Genesis 2:7

Adam was given a helpmeet
Eve, his wife, to be.
A companion in the garden
Beauty all around them to see.

Can you imagine when God had made everything in the world and then decided to create mankind? He started by forming Adam from the dust of the ground. Thinking about the complexities of our bodies, I would have to say that is pretty spectacular! God’s creation of man is truly wonderful and God created man in His image!

After Adam was created, God saw he needed a helpmeet. He put Adam asleep and took from him a rib and formed the woman. How did Adam respond to this? Genesis 2:23 says, “And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” Their job was to take care of the garden. I can only imagine how gorgeous it was. They had access to every tree of the garden to eat but one. They had access to all animals and took care of those as well. Adam even got to name all the animals! What a gorgeous world they lived in.

God gave Adam a companion, a wife, to love and take care of. Ecclesiastes 9:9 shows us how Adam was to live with Eve. “Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun.” This was the first family. This was God’s plan. This was good.

Task for today: Thank God for your family. Write their names here.
