Writing His Word For Your Heart

“My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:” Proverbs 3:1

Are you a morning person? What time of day do you settle in to spend some time with God and His Word? Do you take notes, follow a devotional book or just read a chapter or two?

I thought I’d share today what I do when I spend time with God. A few years ago, a friend, Lynnae, sent me a graphic showing a verse a day for a month and an idea was born. I started with writing out that one verse (in addition to reading through my Bible). As I progressed through a few months of this I realized how much reflection I was giving to this one verse as I took the time to write each word.

Soon I branched out to writing books of the Bible and still enjoy this method of devotions each morning. I’m in the process of writing out my 37th book (Mark) and enjoying it still so much. I go back and forth between the Old Testament and the New Testament. When I’m writing a book, word by word, I am slowing down and taking in each word. It has helped me understand each book of the Bible in a deeper way.

Writing is therapeutic for me and I especially enjoy handwriting in cursive with a Bic pen. This has also developed into writing my blog posts as well as writing some devotional and children’s books.  I have presently (on Amazon) three adult devotional books.  I have written one children’s book about Bible stories.   This year, I decided to write a quick fact book about the US Presidents and their First Ladies as well.

What is your favorite form of writing?
