Who Do We Love Today?

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.” John 13:34

This isn’t always an easy question to answer. Some days it may be we have to choose to love people around us. Why the choice? We are human and our flesh gets in the way. Our pride gets wounded and we want to lash out and not love the person hurting us but God reminds us that our love comes from Him and we must love even when a person is being difficult.

It may be easy to love when someone is sharing with us or doing what we want them to do but what happens when things don’t go our way? Are we still making the choice to love? When we think about God loving us it can be quite humbling. Think of the worst day you’ve had that came because you were in a rotten mood and you just let things go from bad to worse. God still loved you! What about the time you didn’t recognize Him in your life? God still loved you! When you were petty and mean-spirited because you didn’t get your way. God still loved you!

Paul told us in Colossians 3:14, “…put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.”  This means when we can love as God loves we are perfect or complete.  The word perfect in God’s Word means “complete.”  This is such a worthy goal to achieve in our lives as we reach out and love as Jesus loved us.  Without Him, we truly would be nothing.

Choose to love those around you today and it will end up being a great blessing to you. For more encouragement you can find my book here.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
