Those Beautiful Stories Of Jesus

If you’ve learned anything from me it would have to be that I love music and I love books.

Children love to hear stories whether read or told to them. Nurturing this from a young age will help them develop and mature in so many ways. Telling them stories of the life of Jesus and reading from God’s Word will help their spiritual lives in ways you will not even see until they are adults.

Every morning we gather around the dining room table and read God’s Word together. We are memorizing some verses and we pray together for others. These habits will not die easily in our children if we nurture them. Our children each have personal devotions as well and while they are not perfect kids and the youngest may not fully understand things yet, they are being set up now for a successful Christian life.

How did I get the habit?  My parents took me to church, had family devotions and made sure that I learned to read the Bible at a young age for myself.

Stories of Jesus is what we started with. There are any number of great books out there with age appropriate tellings of the wonderful truths in the Bible.

Mr. Parker wrote this song in the late 1800’s as a Sunday School teacher who wanted his children to know about Jesus.

Tell ME the stories of Jesus is something I still crave myself.  I sing about Him and read about Him each day and the peace it brings is immeasurable!

“And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:  And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.”
