“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” Micah 6:8
What steps are we taking today? Who is walking with us? I’ve been thinking of this beautiful song a lot lately as I have been humbled with knee pain. Steps have become somewhat difficult to take and I’m grateful for each one. The beauty is I am not stepping alone.
Each step I take, my Savior goes before me,
And with His loving hand, He leads the way,
And with each breath I whisper, “I adore Thee,”
Oh, what joy to walk with Him each day.
When life hands us pain or trials, we can still take joy and solace in knowing our steps are not being taken alone. God is right with us not walking behind us but leading the way. He is already ahead of us and sees what is coming. God knows what is coming and yet He is allowing us to walk this path.
At times I feel, my faith begin to waver,
When up ahead, I see a chasm wide,
It’s then I turn, and look up to my Savior,
I am strong, when He is by my side.
When am I strong? I am only strong when Christ is by my side. Those chasms of life are difficult to get through. As humans, we are continually facing things that we do not believe we can deal with. We don’t have to. Our Savior is by our side. II Corinthians 5:7 should encourage us in how we can walk. “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
I trust in God, no matter come what may,
For life eternal, in His hand,
He holds the key, that opens up the way,
That will lead me to the promised land.
As we allow our Savior to lead we will see that trust comes naturally. This earth is so temporary that we need to remind ourselves daily that stress here is a blip compared to the joy we will one day experience for all eternity! God is leading us and we have no reason then to fear those steps we take.
Each step I take, I know that He will guide me,
To higher ground, He ever leads me on,
Until some day, the last step will be taken,
Each step I take, just leads me closer home.
What are we doing until that last step is taken to our heavenly home? Our steps should be direct as we walk towards eternity. And our steps should be focused on serving Him. These steps should be taken in the same direction not only of our Savior but the people we know who have been strong in their faith. Then, our steps should leave behind us an example for all those coming along. Just remember where your faith lies and your steps will not be difficult, arduous or faltering.
