If I was asked who taught me to serve God, I’d immediately say my father and mother. I can’t remember a time when we didn’t go to church and we didn’t serve God. Their example outshines so many others. My dad has now graduated to Glory and my mom is still serving God. She is running her race strong and with joy. They taught me the importance of serving God as a family. I recently wrote on how blessed I am to have the family I have. You can read it here.
WHY DO WE SERVE GOD
When we recognize that our salvation lies in the work Christ did for us on the cross, it changes our perspective and opens our eyes to a way of life like non other. Christ did the doing, we can do the working. There is a verse in Ephesians 2:9 that says it all when it comes to salvation being a free gift. It says, “not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Free from the law, we are saved through Christ’s blood. We are saved, going to heaven when we look to Him and accept His sacrifice but then what? I like to think, “I’m now saved to serve”. Christ gave so freely for me at such a great price that now I can serve Him by doing so much. So why do we serve God? We serve Him because we love Him and we are so grateful for the sacrifice Christ made that we want to share it with the world.
Reasonable means moderate, not excessive, not unjust. Serving God is just a normal thing for us to do as Christians. It is simply giving back to God. Let’s remember all He has done for us and all He is doing for us and let’s serve God. One way I am trying to give back is to write some books on joy and serving God. You can find my page on Amazon here with all the books I have published.
HOW DO WE SERVE GOD
There are so many ways to serve God and everyone has something they can do for Him. We are all given talents to help us through life and to help us give back to God. Here is a verse which contains a service we can all do. Mark 9:41, “For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.”
Listen to my girls and I as we served God in my mom’s church a couple of years ago. I love singing with my girls. Who can serve God? All of us!
