“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6
Merry Christmas! Christ is born!
The reason we need to celebrate today can be found in Him. Being a mother of six, I can’t even imagine the journey Mary has been on. The past nine months leading up to this moment must have been unreal!
Can you imagine walking miles and realizing there is no room in ANY inn when you got to the town? Imagine realizing that you will be giving birth in a barn? Can you imagine that night our Savior was born and what was going through Mary and Joseph’s minds?
No room. Hearing these words would bring a fear to most people and maybe some anxiety. Joseph thinking of his very pregnant wife and wanting to make her comfortable in a room. Mary needing to nest and get a place ready to give birth. God knew there would be no room. He provided the stables for them. A holy God watched over them with love and tenderness and although I believe Mary still had pain in childbirth and there were some tough moments even after giving birth, God was there.

So no room was all part of His plan but what is not part of God’s plan is the world having no room in our hearts for Him. II Peter 3:9 says, “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
This holiday season more people are thinking of Christ’s birth and maybe wondering why He was even born. Take time to show them that if they make room in their hearts for Him they will be at rest for eternity.
