I’d Rather Have Jesus

I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold;
I’d rather be His than have riches untold;
I’d rather have Jesus than houses or lands;
I’d rather be led by His nail-pierced hand.

Is there anything greater than this?

I love this verse in Acts (4:12) which says, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”  Our salvation comes only through the shed blood of Jesus on Calvary.  This verse shows us that there is no other person or name that brings the salvation that only Jesus can give.  We need to call upon His name and His name alone to be assured of entering heaven.

“Salvation belongeth unto the Lord:…” In Psalm 3 and verse 8 we read that salvation belongs only with the Lord.  Jesus died for us on Calvary therefore leaving us eternal security when we call on His name and receive His salvation.  It does not belong to another person or in ourselves.  We can not work our way out of our sins and into heaven.  His death is our way to heaven and this is truly the only way!

How can you have this SALVATION that Jesus so freely offers?

1.  Admit that you’re a sinner.  Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”  ALL means all.  “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” (I John 1:8)
2.  Realize the penalty of sin. Revelation 21:8 tells us, “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and  murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
3.  Believe that Jesus died, was buried, and rose again.  “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
4.  Trust Christ alone as your Savior.  I love John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
5.  Pray!  Ask God to be merciful to you a sinner and to save you through Jesus’ death on the cross.
As we move into the Thanksgiving/Christmas season, let’s be grateful for our Savior and make sure we know Him as OUR Savior.  God loves us.  He created us.  He wants us to come to Him.  Salvation is the greatest gift to receive this holiday season!
