How To Be Like Him Every Day

Jesus, His name is above all names and oh what joy He brings.  The name of Jesus can dispel fears and help us to be triumphant in our Christian living.   This is why having a daily quiet time is paramount to our lives. How can we see Him as our example?  We read in Mark 1:25,  “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.” Throughout all of Jesus’ earthly life we see Him setting a great example for us in so many ways.  Check out these verses about how He was such an example to us.  This song is a great one to ponder and one to consider when we see Jesus as our example!

O To Be Like Thee – Longing To Be Like Him

O to be like Thee! blessed Redeemer, This is my constant longing and prayer; Gladly I’ll forfeit all of earth’s treasures, Jesus, Thy perfect likeness to wear.

This verse is encouraging us to long for and pray about being like Him!  This earth with all it’s treasure is temporary and we are just strangers in it as we wait for heaven.

Why not be like Jesus while here?  “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:” (Matthew 6:19,20)

O To Be Like Thee – Loving, Forgiving

O to be like Thee! full of compassion, Loving, forgiving, tender and kind, Helping the helpless, cheering the fainting, Seeking the wandering sinner to find.

This verse can be summed up in one word – others.  If we are to be like Jesus we will be giving to others and sacrificing for those around us in the hopes that they, too, will experience the forgiveness that Jesus has to offer.  Ephesians 4:32 sums this up well.  “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” There are several more verses to this song so it’s well worth it to look it up.  Ponder the words and let them sink into your soul.  When we look to Jesus as our example can we say, “count me”?  Read this article to find out if we can be counted in.

O to be like Thee! O to be like Thee, Blessed Redeemer, pure as Thou art; Come in Thy sweetness, come in Thy fullness; Stamp Thine own image deep on my heart.
