How Little Have I Done Today?

There are days when we get out of bed and grab a coffee followed by a full day of checking off everything on our to-do list. There are also days when all we manage is to get half a cup of coffee and one sock on right.

Days filled with home life, children and all the busyness of our world means some times things happen and we have no ability to get that list accomplished.  We do not always have the stamina and we know the Savior’s promise in Matthew 11:28 which says, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”  However, we also do not have to get everything accomplished in one day.  We can do a little and it be a lot!

I live this right now because of my health. We sing a song in church that makes me think about how little I get done some days as I move at a snail’s pace. I am always moving forward but some days it is ever slowly.  I have a condition known as Hypermobility (Ehlers-Danlos) Syndrome.  You can read my story here.  Ehlers-Danlos has a very informative website you can access here.

God reminded me last night that little can be much when you are moving forward with God.  “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” (Philippians 4:13)  Notice the key words here are “through Christ”.  He will help us do each task and we don’t need to get it all done.  His strength will give us peace about the things we had to leave behind.

What can we do in those moments when we are crawling over the finish line? We can pray, we can choose joy, we can show others kindness and peace. It’s the little things that matter the most.

God comforted me with this. I can still be of service and in service for my Lord even when my body is worn out. Thank You, God!
