He Is Risen, Just As He Said

Once on a hillside, people were gathered,
For Jesus had risen and soon would ascend.
Then, as He blessed them, He rose to the heavens,
And gave them His promise to come back again.

Can you imagine watching our Saviour die on the cross? Can you imagine what went through people’s minds that heard Him say He would rise again? Those three days and nights must have felt like an eternity for the disciples as they were left without this Man Who they knew to be the Son of God..

Can you imagine the power, the emotions, the pure joy when He walked into that room where they all were gathered? “Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.” John 20:19

The victory of our Saviour’s resurrection that they were able to witness firsthand must have been the most powerful moment in their lives.

I wonder how energized they felt when they saw Him on the hillside ascending to His Father? Acts 1:10 says, “And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel.” Christ had fulfilled what He came to earth to do. He was born in a manger, walked among men being just like us. Jesus was tempted yet never sinned and then became the perfect sacrifice for us! He mediated between God and man to secure our eternal salvation! His work was finished and He was ready to go home.

The disciples now had the best mission in this ungodly earth. It was time to continue the work Christ started. Time to tell others that He wasn’t dead in the tomb anymore. He is very much alive and interceding for us in heaven. Now that’s a great testimony to share with the world. The joy they must have felt as they talked about the events.

It wasn’t going to be an easy mission and so many of them (all but one) lost their lives because of this testimony they shared but I know they did it with a peace knowing they had the truth and were helping others find the truth.

“He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.” Matthew 28:6

I LOVE the song, We Shall See Jesus.  It is so worth listening to.  Want to know more about how His death can impact your life?  Read that here.  We WILL see Him some day whether it will be to enter His rest or to be condemned to hell is our choice.  His gift is free for us since He has already paid it all in His death.  Will you see Him in Heaven?

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” John 1:12
