Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.
Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
(Psalm 100)
Today, I’m grateful for music in my home – good music, godly music and joyful music. Music can comfort, challenge and bring us closer to God.
The best gift (after presenting the Gospel to them) we gave our children was teaching them to play an instrument. Some of them play more than one. We have, for years, paid for music lessons for them and had them practicing daily. But, our encouragement didn’t stop there. We had them start playing in church as soon as they were able. Having them play the congregational songs is a great way for them to start because not only are they blending with many instruments, but they are also learning to work as a team.
Our kids have played sports and those are great for them to stay active but music is something they can continue to do through their lives when their knees give out and their ankles become weak!
Music is such a balm for the soul to so many people. Having them learn to be a blessing to others is teaching them to lead an unselfish life!
Today, I am grateful (even in the midst of multiple instruments practicing) for music!
Here is a beautiful trio of strings that our girls recently played at one of our church’s fellowships. Seems like all those hours of practicing is paying off!
