“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” Galatians 5:1
Today I’m so grateful that a group of people took their religious freedoms so seriously that they set out on a truly dangerous journey to set up a colony in a country I now live in.
I grew up with parents who taught us all the time. My dad was a history genius (we used to say a date in history just so we could quiz him on what was going on in the world during that year) and he thoroughly educated us on the Pilgrims. One of my favorite vacations was the year he took us through all the New England States. Walking on board the replica of the Mayflower and down the paths of Plymouth Plantation gives one a deeper appreciation for all they suffered that first year, especially, and yet they stopped to thank God!

As we eat our big meal on Thanksgiving, I will be grateful that our Christian heritage was preserved so that I can worship freely each and every day here in the USA. What joy to know I am truly free in Christ today!
God bless the USA but God be thanked for sacrifices others made for future generations. May I be willing to make sacrifices for those coming behind me.
