Every once in awhile, a new song comes along that really stirs my heart. My husband, Pierre, came across a couple of men who have collaborated together to write words and put music to them. They have done some good ones with rich words but this one is my new favorite. I’d like to explore the words and see what challenge they hold for us.
God has spoken through Creation,
Making all with “Let there be.”
His creative voice still echoes
Through the works we hear and see.
“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.” Psalm 19:1
Can you imagine being there at creation and hearing Him create the world with such few words? He spoke and all was created! Now, today, if we think about it, His creativity lies so clearly in the works we see in our daily lives. Think of how He dwells within us and speaks to us. He always knows the perfect way to reach out and get our attention.
Oh, what power; oh, what wisdom;
Oh, what kindness God has shown!
God has whispered through Creation
He exists, and may be known.
He exists, and may be known.
“That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.” Ephesians 2:7
He has power to calm the storms and wisdom to set us on the perfect path for our lives. His kindness indwells us daily as He doesn’t give us what we truly deserve as sinners. His love comes through all He does for us and we know He exists because of not only His creation but how He leads in our lives. We can show others His existence thanks to His hand we know is leading us.
God has spoken through the Scriptures,
Breathing out His sacred Word.
Spirit led, the holy authors
Have declared, “Thus says the Lord.”
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God,…” II Timothy 3:16
Where would we be today without God’s spoken Word? I can’t even imagine. I don’t want to imagine. In our day and age when the Bible is so prevalent, we need to continually thank God for the freedom we have in our country to immediately put our hands on the Word of God and study it. Do we treat the Bible like the great gift it is to us? Do we reverence it and bear in mind all the authors who wrote the Scriptures as the Holy Spirit led them? Gratefulness for God’s Word should be at the forefront of our thanksgiving today!
Teaching us of sin and sinners
Of God’s saving sacrifice.
God has spoken through the Scriptures,
Pointing us to Jesus Christ,
Pointing us to Jesus Christ.
“For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” II Peter 1:21
With the Holy Spirit’s moving, we now have the written Word of God in our hands. Pointing us to Christ? We can now take the Bible and show someone how Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. How He was born, lived and died just for us. How He rose again and ascended into the heavens to sit on the right hand of God. How He will come again to take His church home. Oh how sweet the glorious message simple faith may claim….. Beautiful song of His redemption and how Jesus never changes. His gospel will not change. Have you found Christ?
God has shouted through the Savior,
Greatest Word of God to men.
Word made flesh, Christ took our nature
One of us, without our sin.
“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” John 1:14
The Word made flesh. Christ, the Son of God, came down as a baby to live among men and be just like us but sinless. Can you imagine never sinning? He walked our paths; He was in all points tempted as we were yet without sin. He came to fulfill the law so we then could be pointed to the cross and be saved. Greatest Word of God to men, for sure.
Jesus, highest revelation:
Seeing Him is seeing God!
God has shouted through the Savior.
Praise the living Word of God.
Praise the living Word of God.
“In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.” I John 4:9
My favorite phrase of the whole song, “Seeing Him is seeing God!” Just imagine that God walked among men! God talked to His creation. He showed His immense love for us. God sent His only Son (Who WAS God) and now we can live eternally because of Him. Highest revelation!!!!
Please enjoy this song as we attempt to convey the message through our instruments. You will hear: Genevieve on the flute; Julie on the clarinet; Pierre on the euphonium; Timothee on the baritone; Stephanie on the French horn and Emilie on the viola.
