Be Still, The Lord Is On Our Side

In a world that seems to have so much darkness we can still have hope and be a light. God is still in control and He will defeat the evil powers in the end. He has the future definitely in His hands so we do not need to worry. Psalm 22:28 reminds us of this. “For the kingdom is the LORD’S: and he is the governor among the nations.”

He also gives us a hope that nothing can shake because we know where we are going in the future. Whatever happens on this earth, we know that eternally we are secure when we place our trust in Him. This means no evil can get to us. Evil can only kill our body but God protects our soul. Isaiah 41:10 is a beautiful verse full of hope for us. “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”

Looking around at our world today can create panic and anxiety. Looking up to the Author of our salvation brings peace and hope.

Do you know the Author of our Salvation today? “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

Be still, my soul: the Lord is on thy side.
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain.
Leave to thy God to order and provide;
In every change, He faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul: thy best, thy heav’nly Friend
Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.
Be still, my soul: thy God doth undertake
To guide the future, as He has the past.
Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake;
All now mysterious shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul: the waves and winds still know
His voice Who ruled them while He dwelt below.
Be still, my soul: when dearest friends depart,
And all is darkened in the vale of tears,
Then shalt thou better know His love, His heart,
Who comes to soothe thy sorrow and thy fears.
Be still, my soul: thy Jesus can repay
From His own fullness all He takes away.
Be still, my soul: the hour is hast’ning on
When we shall be forever with the Lord.
When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone,
Sorrow forgot, love’s purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul: when change and tears are past
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.
Be still, my soul: begin the song of praise
On earth, believing, to Thy Lord on high;
Acknowledge Him in all thy words and ways,
So shall He view thee with a well-pleased eye.
Be still, my soul: the Sun of life divine
Through passing clouds shall but more brightly shine.
